What is this all about?
Want to make a contribution to science but can’t make it to a March for Science event on the 22nd April? Or have some spare time on march day?
To mark the March for Science we are going to run a Sprint Screen Citation Challenge. It will last for 1 hour. During that time we hope as many people as possible will join us online and help screen as many citations as possible.
Check the March for Science website to read more about the movement.
When exactly will the Sprint Screen run?
It will run 5-6pm (Eastern Daylight Time, GMT-4) on Sat 22nd April.
We’ve timed it for people in the USA, where most of the March for Science events are taking place. If the timing doesn’t work for you, we hope you will join us for our subsequent event, the MedLit Blitz.
How much time do I have to commit?
We would love you to join us for the whole hour if you can! But any contribution is welcome. Even just five minutes really does make a difference.
I’m new to Cochrane Crowd. What is it all about?
Our 2-minute introductory video covers the basics. Have a look and let us know if you still have questions.
If I join the Sprint Screen, what will I be doing?
Your mission in Cochrane Crowd is to identify studies that provide the best possible evidence of the effectiveness of a health treatment. Once identified by the Crowd the studies go into a central register where health researchers and practitioners can access them. The more studies identified by the Crowd, the more high-quality evidence is available to help health practitioners treat their clients.
Do I need any prior knowledge?
No. You don’t need any prior knowledge to contribute.
How do I sign up for the Sprint Screen?
The process is very simple. All you have to do is sign up to Cochrane Crowd if you are not already signed-up. It should take less than a minute to do. There’s a brief training program that will get you up to speed in around 20 minutes, and it might be a good idea to do that before the Sprint Screen.
Sounds fun, can I tell all my friends about it and get them to join in?
Yes please! We want as many people as possible to join up and help find those trials.
What if I sign up and then can’t actually join in?
That is absolutely fine. You don’t have to notify us.
What if I make a mistake during the Sprint Screen?
Everyone should go at their own pace. The odd mistake will be made and we know that more records than usual will be classified Unsure. We’re ready for that.
What will happen over the period of the Sprint Screen?
We’ll be active on Twitter so please follow us @cochrane_crowd, and use #SprintScreen and #MarchForScience to connect.
If you still have a question that we haven’t answered, please do email us on email@example.com.
Let’s do this!
